The Munfordville Baptist Story

​God gave the desire to a few people in 1888 to start what is now known as Munfordville Baptist Church.  Meetings were held in the courthouse and other church buildings until the current Sanctuary was built in 1914. Over the years several changes and additions were made to accommodate growth and needs of the congregation.  The most recent addition was our Family Life Center and children’s wing addition in 2001.  More important than the buildings built are the lives that have been impacted over the last 130 years of ministry.

As a Southern Baptist Congregation we have always been focused on making the gospel known in our community and around the world.  We have a rich history of giving of ourselves and our money to the spread of the gospel.  We are able to continue this work today because of the faithful leaders from the past.  May generations to come find us faithful.

Church Structure

CHURCH STAFF

Individuals called by God and employed by the church to serve in specific areas of ministry.  They provide leadership and oversight for their specific areas of ministry.

DEACONS

Men called by God and elected by the church to serve the church family as needed.  They work to promote harmony and unity in the body.

COMMITTEES  and  TEAMS

Church members nominated and elected by the church body.  They are empowered to serve together and lead in their assigned area of ministry.

CONGREGATION

The gathered body of members are asked to prayerfully cast their individual vote regarding matters that effect the whole congregation.  This happens regularly on the 2nd Sunday night of every month during our monthly business meetings and on some occasions on Sunday mornings during worship gatherings.  

 

We have Constitution and By-Laws that helps provide structure, order and consistency.  Copies available upon request.
